Coaches Bio

FUNdamentals Basketball coaches offer players over 25 years of successful basketball coaching experience. Director Dennis Carter also handpicks experienced guest coaches for every camp to ensure every child receives professional and individual instruction. Nearly every FUNdamentals coach has played and/or coached competitive high school and college basketball.

Dennis Carter

As a Certified Health Fitness Specialist, Coach Dennis Carter, MS, ACSM, founder and CEO of FUNdamentals Basketball Training, has been involved in basketball coaching, team building and fitness training for nearly two decades. A lifelong basketball player, Dennis played competitively at the high school and college level. Today, Dennis has an M.S. in Exercise Physiology and has coached hundreds of boys and girls in the fundamentals of basketball.

Lucky Carter

As a high school athlete, Coach Lucky Carter’s teams won the state title three years in a row, and his team’s combined record was 122 wins and 5 losses. Upon college graduation, he took the winning skills he learned in high school to become a successful coach: Lucky coached 7 high school basketball teams to the New Mexico state tournament; he won 1 state championship, 3 regional championships and 6 district championships, and in 1991, Lucky’s team won the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) New Mexico State Championship. Lucky won 310 games in 17 years and has directed and coached basketball camps for over 25 years.

Brian Brown

Coach Brown comes to us with a rich basketball background both as a player and as a basketball coach and trainer. FUNdamentals Basketball Training is excited about the opportunities Coach Brown is going to offer our young athletes as they pursue basketball at the next level!!

  • Starting point guard on "Back to Back" Missouri state championship teams at Cardinal Ritter College Prep in St. Louis MO. '94-'95 & '95-'96

  • High school teammates included former NCAA All-Americans and NBA Draft picks, Chris Carrawell (Duke Univ), Loren Woods (Univ of Arizona), and Jahidi White (Georgetown Univ)

  • 1996 McDonalds High School All America Nominee,1st team Academic All-State in Missouri & All-metro in St. louis area

  • Attended the prestigiuos, invite-only Adidas ABCD All America Camp and competed against NBA All-stars like Kobe Bryant, Jermaine O'Neal, Rip Hamilton, Lamar Odom, and Ron Artest 

  • NCAA Division 1 player at the College of  William and Mary, consistently rated among the nation's finest college institutions

  • Assistant Coach at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park '01-02

  • Director at River City Hoops in St. Louis MO. '08-11 (clinics, Individual and small group workouts) 

  • Basketball Coordinator at Bellevue Club and Head Coach of BC Youth Basketball Academy in Seattle, WA  (AAU club teams for 4, 5/6th, & 7/8th grade teams) '11--'13... Head Coach of BC men's  travelling teams (21+ , 35+, and 45+ age groups) 

  • Director / Counselor at more than 50 basketball clinics and camps over the past 10 years & over 2000 hours of private and small group instruction (600+ hours in 2012 alone)
